GRAY AREA
The sexual revolution was extremely controversial, especially regarding influences in media such as literature, film, music, advertising, and religion. Novels, explicit magazines, and pornography spiked in sales. Interracial relationships became more socially acceptable and sexual contact advanced from being merely implied to completely illustrated.
Gray Area is an archival exhibition at LACMA focusing from 1953 to 1985 on all areas of sexual interest, political fights, religious views, women's rights, homosexuality, and XXX. Gray Area is not right nor is it wrong, it's not white or black, it's the area where one can indulge in history and creates ones own perspective on the sexual revolution from the past and what may come in the future. This is Gray Area.
