‘63 ford falcon
The car is inspired by my dads ‘63 1/2 ford falcon sprint track car from the late 80’s. My dad has owned an unknown amount of vehicles ranging from race cars, hot rods, kit cars, motorcycles etc, but the falcon always stood out to me. It was the way people took to it–complete confusion but an insane amount of excitement at its aggressive presence. This was grandmas car, it didn't have the same presence as the mustang did in the 60's. It might as well have been, considering it's the same platform and the stepping stone to the Mustang. As a kid most of my memories of my dads cars has been with the Falcon. I still remember the smells, how it sounded and the impact it had on others. People would always stop my dad and ask so many questions, compliment the car, and today I get similar reactions.
A semester shy of graduating at ArtCenter (fall ‘15) I found a stock ‘63 in Ojai, CA. Only mods it had was the upgraded 302 and AOD trans from its original 6 cylinder column shift and the paint scheme. I knew that I wanted to reincarnate my dads sprint so I began a parts list. Stripped all steering, suspension, drivetrain and started over.
The goal is to have a reliable, street-able track car. Drive to the track, race it, and drive it home. This is a garage build between my dad and I. I am happy where it is today, serves great as a daily driver and track car.
